Former footballer and coach of Kyiv Dynamo, Jozsef Sabo, announced that he has stopped watching matches of the Ukrainian national team. He cited the team's performance in the match against Northern Ireland as the main reason for this decision.
Sabo shared his emotions and assessment of the situation in an interview with Meta.ua.
According to the legendary Dynamo player, the defeat to Northern Ireland evoked a sense of shame in him. The expert is convinced that the players did not demonstrate maximum dedication on the pitch.
“Forgive me, but what, is the national team a team for trials? That is what clubs are for, while the best footballers in the country come to the national team, and they must give all their strength on the pitch. Was that the case in the match against Northern Ireland? No. Who is to blame? Only the coach,” Sabo emphasised.
Jozsef Sabo added that after that match, he could not sleep for a long time, worrying about what he had seen at the stadium.
“After that match, I could not sleep for a long time, I was so ashamed of my national team's play. I told myself that I would not watch them anymore. Why do I need such worries in my old age,” he noted.
Sabo also made a prediction for Ukraine's next match in the Nations League against Hungary. He expects the game to end in a draw with a score of 0:0 or 1:1.
