Anticipation of long-range weapon readiness

President Volodymyr Zelensky forecasts that the development of the Ukrainian FP-9 ballistic missile will be completed by this autumn. The weapon will have a range that allows it to strike Moscow.

The head of state provided this information in a conversation with Reuters journalists.

Context and production acceleration

Reuters noted that this week, Ukraine used its domestic FP-7 ballistic missile for the first time, which has a range of approximately 250 kilometres. Currently, Ukraine is working on a new, longer-range FP-9 ballistic missile.

Zelensky said that he personally called the leadership of the defence enterprise Fire Point to urge them to complete the creation of the FP-9 as soon as possible.

«Я сказав їм: де моя FP-9? Нам потрібна FP-9. І я впевнений, що FP-9 буде готова вже цієї осені» (I told them: where is my FP-9? We need the FP-9. And I am confident that the FP-9 will be ready by this autumn), the president emphasised.

Previously, Fire Point stated that the FP-9 missile would have the capability to strike the Russian capital.

Funding for drones

Zelensky also reported that following consultations with European partners this week, it was possible to secure funding for the purchase of necessary drones for the beginning of 2027.
