Canada to provide military aid to Ukraine

Canada is allocating CAD 440 million (approximately USD 330 million) for military support to Ukraine. This was announced by the Department of National Defence following the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, held at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

According to the department's statement, a significant portion of these funds — CAD 200 million — will be directed towards a Czech initiative providing for the procurement and delivery of large-calibre ammunition to Ukraine. An additional CAD 50 million has been allocated for the purchase of ammunition from Canadian manufacturers.

A further CAD 100 million will be directed by Canada towards supporting Ukraine's defence industry under the so-called "Danish model", which focuses on drone production. The ministry emphasised that drones play a key role in the modern conflict, while Ukrainian engineers demonstrate an innovative approach and a willingness to experiment in this field.

In addition, Canada has already transferred drone cameras worth approximately USD 50 million to Ukraine and delivered several shipments of winter clothing, with a total value of approximately USD 23 million.

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the total volume of Canadian military aid to Ukraine has exceeded USD 3.5 billion. As noted, the Royal Canadian Air Force has transported more than 11,000 tonnes of military aid provided by Canada, its allies and partners since March 2022.

Canada continues to transport military equipment from its base in Scotland, where three cargo aircraft and approximately 60 military personnel are stationed.
