Colombia refuses entry to US military transport planes carrying migrants

Colombia has decided not to allow US military transport aircraft, which were carrying approximately 160 migrants awaiting deportation, to enter its territory. These actions serve as a response to a recent US attempt to return deportees to Colombia.

The President of Colombia expressed dissatisfaction with US actions, stating that such a situation is unacceptable. He emphasised that the United States should not view Colombian migrants as criminals and that, in order to continue the deportation process,

the US is obliged to develop a new protocol ensuring humane treatment of migrants prior to their return. This appeal was published on the social media platform X.
