Culture ministry suspends musicians' travel abroad

The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has decided to suspend the issuance of permits for musicians to travel abroad from 3 March. This decision is the result of numerous complaints and internal investigations related to the fact that too many people who received such permits did not return. 

The initiative is driven by the need to strengthen control over the border crossing of male artists, who previously could travel without issues for concerts and events.

Tour at risk
This decision has already affected music projects, such as tours by well-known performers. Among those affected are Dmitry Shurov (Pianoboy) and the band 1914, whose tour was suspended. Numerous music events planned for international stages now face uncertainty and cancellation.

Negative consequences for the industry
Undoubtedly, such restrictions hit the country's reputation and its cultural ties with the international community. Tour organisers and fans express dissatisfaction with such decisions, which may lead to financial losses. This blow is particularly felt against the backdrop of Ukraine potentially losing income from donations and other funds that flow into the country through these cultural projects.
