UN: 12.7 million people need support due to war in Ukraine

The United Nations reported that 12.7 million people require humanitarian assistance as a result of military operations in Ukraine. This includes 6.8 million Ukrainian refugees currently outside the country.

The UN is calling on the international community to allocate $3.32 billion in 2025 to support these individuals. The primary focus is planned for 11 countries hosting the largest number of refugees, including Moldova and Poland.

“These funds will enable a rapid response to the humanitarian needs of people affected by the war both inside Ukraine and abroad,” the organisation stated.

Meanwhile, according to UN data, 61% of Ukrainian refugees abroad wish to return home as soon as the security situation allows.
