The Dutch government is allocating €1.2 billion for non-military aid to Ukraine over the next three years. These funds are directed towards facilitating recovery and reconstruction, as well as expanding opportunities for Dutch companies. This was announced by the press service of the Dutch government.
Aid priorities
Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sjerd Sjerdsma announced a new support package during a visit to Kyiv on 28 October. The package focuses primarily on the energy and water supply sectors, as well as business support.
"Україна перебуває під сильними обстрілами і готується до дуже важкої зими. Для нашої спільної безпеки надзвичайно важливо, щоб ми продовжували підтримувати українців, аби вони могли витримати цю боротьбу. Тому уряд зараз робить додатковий крок" ("Ukraine is under heavy shelling and is preparing for a very difficult winter. For our shared security, it is extremely important that we continue to support Ukrainians so that they can withstand this struggle. Therefore, the government is now taking an additional step"), the minister stated.
Energy sector financing
This year, the Netherlands will expedite the allocation of €40 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. These resources are necessary for the urgent restoration and repair of energy infrastructure. A further €55 million will be used for energy materials to be supplied to Kyiv.
Business support and funding sources
Among other areas is €136 million, which will be directed, among other things, to the Ukraine Partnership Facility for Dutch companies in the Ukrainian market. Additionally, €19.5 million has been allocated for insurance for enterprises planning to export their goods to Ukraine.
This package specifies the amounts that were previously promised for this period: €878 million for non-military aid and an additional €327 million announced on the day of the budget release. A significant part of this aid is provided through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank, and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
