Russia wrote off fighter jets to hand them over to militants in Syria

The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that three Russian military aircraft were destroyed in Syria. However, the Syrian rebels themselves deny this information.

The aircraft did indeed disappear from the Russian base in Latakia, but no one has seen their actual wreckage. According to the rebels, Russia is trying to write off military aircraft and hand them over to Bashar's militants in this way.

Information that Russia is arming militants emerged several days ago. Yesterday, Russian aircraft carried out airstrikes on civilian areas that have no connection to ISIS. More than 60 people were killed, including children, and hundreds more were injured.

US Defence Secretary Carter spoke about the contradictions in Russia's position, as its authorities claim to be fighting ISIS while simultaneously supporting Bashar al-Assad's regime.
