Russia protests against the lifting of submarine found by Swedes

News emerged yesterday evening that a sunken mini-submarine had been found in Swedish territorial waters. It is presumed to be the Russian submarine detected by radars last November, which the Swedes had been searching for unsuccessfully for several weeks.

Already last night, Russian media were rushing to report that the submarine had been identified. It is allegedly a "Som" class submarine that sank during the Second World War.

However, witnesses claim that the underwater vessel sank no more than a year ago, as it has neither seaweed nor coral, which are characteristic of long-term submersion.

After news emerged that Sweden plans to lift the submarine from the seabed, Russian politicians and military experts became visibly nervous, stating that no one has the right to do so, as the sunken vessel is, in a sense, a burial site. Furthermore, they claimed that lifting it requires official permission from the country to which the vessel belongs, namely Russia.

The situation strongly resembles the Russian Federation's protest against the tribunal regarding the Malaysian Boeing shot down a year ago.
