Security services helped Komarnytskyi leave the country

Denis Komarnytskyi, one of Kyiv's key shadow players, managed to leave Ukraine with the assistance of law enforcement agencies. An investigation by Ukrainska Pravda revealed that the escape of the high-ranking corrupt official was organised according to a meticulously planned scheme.

On 10 February 2025, Komarnytskyi informed his acquaintance Yuri Dovgalenko that he was urgently heading to Zakarpattia to cross the border. His route went through Khust, then towards Mezhhirya, after which he headed towards the border zone.

The escape was carried out in the format of a disguised convoy:

• Leading the way was a vehicle with a "200" sign, traditionally used for transporting the bodies of fallen soldiers. Such vehicles are rarely stopped at checkpoints.

• Following it was a Toyota Land Cruiser 200, which checked the situation and reported on potential risks.

• Only then did Komarnytskyi himself appear in the convoy.

Security services and politics in the escape scheme

In Zakarpattia, Komarnytskyi met with a regional council deputy responsible for international relations. The organiser of the escape, Yuri Dovgalenko, in turn, presented himself as an SBU officer, showing the corresponding identification.

According to the investigation, the operation involved:

• Four individuals with SBU documents

• Two officers from the Strategic Investigations Directorate of Zakarpattia Oblast

• One deputy of the Zakarpattia Regional Council

Cynicism at the highest level

The use of a vehicle marked "200" as cover for the flight is a clear indication of the level of cynicism among the participants in the scheme. Such vehicles naturally command respect from military and police and are rarely subjected to checks.
