Telegram provided data on 10,000 users

Over the past six months, the leadership of the Telegram messenger has provided data on more than 10,000 users to the authorities of various countries.

According to France Info, citing the transcript of a December hearing, a significant portion of the requests came from US authorities — approximately a quarter of the total. Notably, the process of disclosing information intensified significantly after the arrest of Pavel Durov in August 2024.

During the court hearing, the founder of Telegram stated his intention to strengthen moderation within the messenger.

Durov emphasised that the platform was not created for criminal activity. Therefore, the platform actively combats it.
