Telegram to freeze accounts

Telegram plans to introduce a new penalty system for users who violate the messenger's rules.

Restrictions for violators

In the event of a block, users will only be able to read messages, while sending and other functions will be unavailable. Moreover, the restrictions will affect both group chats and private conversations with contacts.

Label for frozen accounts

Blocked accounts will be marked with a special status, which will be visible to other users. This will allow the community to easily identify violators.

Appeal procedure

To restore access, Telegram will offer a dedicated bot — SpamBot. Users will be able to file an appeal and attempt to prove their innocence. However, if the sanctions are not lifted within the specified timeframe, the account will be permanently deleted.
