Trump prepares new sanctions against Russia to force peace

Incoming US President Donald Trump intends to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia, attempting to force the Kremlin to agree to a peaceful settlement of the conflict. 

According to Bloomberg, the new measures will be aimed at raising the price cap on Russian oil, setting it above the current level of $60 per barrel. In addition, the plans include strengthened secondary sanctions, as well as measures against vessels transporting Russian oil.

Trump stated that if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to a peace deal, he is ready to take steps within the framework of "goodwill measures" that could lead to an easing of sanctions pressure.
