Trump fires National Archives director

In a breaking report by NBC, it was revealed that US President Donald Trump has decided to dismiss the director of the National Archives, Colleen Shogan. This decision is linked to her involvement in a criminal case concerning his handling of classified documents. The name of her potential successor has not yet been disclosed.

According to reports, on Friday, Sergio Gor, the White House chief of staff, announced this on social media. He stated that Shogan's dismissal was made at Trump's direction, who thanked her for her service.

“At the direction of President Trump, the Archivist of the United States was dismissed this evening. We express our gratitude to Colleen Shogan for her service,” Gor wrote in a post.

As noted by NBC News, this dismissal fulfils a promise Trump made in January regarding the need for leadership changes at the National Archives, in connection with his involvement in a criminal investigation. It is worth recalling that in this case, Trump is accused of improper handling of classified documents.

In a post on the LinkedIn platform, which is presumably by Colleen Shogan, she confirmed the fact of her dismissal, stating that the reason for this decision was not communicated to her. At the end, Shogan expressed pride in her service as the 11th Archivist of the United States, emphasising that she had always done everything possible in the interest of the National Archives and the American people.
