Owner of BRSM-Nafta fuel station chain faces treason charges

The owner of the "BRSM-Nafta" fuel station chain, Andriy Biba, has been accused on social media of financing the Russian Orthodox Church, with calls to boycott the brand's fuel stations. 

Viktor Shyshkin, a retired judge of the Constitutional Court, stated that Biba must be held accountable for treason, and that all his companies and foreign assets should be confiscated for the benefit of the state. According to him, the funds that Ukrainians spend on petrol at "BRSM" stations should go into the Ukrainian budget, rather than supporting the financing of Russian structures.

Nationalisation of assets and boycott of fuel stations
The judge also emphasised the need to nationalise all of Biba's assets, including his companies and accounts abroad. He added that Ukrainians buying fuel at this network's stations are effectively financing the "Russian world", and called for a boycott of the chain. Calls to stop using "BRSM-Nafta" services are also coming from Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, who are supporting the civil disobedience campaign.

Fled abroad: Biba's story
Andriy Biba, who left Ukraine shortly after the scandal, was added to the "Myrotvorets" list. It is known that he financed projects linked to the Russian church and also supported the project of Ukrainian blogger Anatoliy Shariy. In September 2023, Biba was awarded an icon for "supporting the Moscow church".
