Yulia Tymoshenko lobbies for pharmaceutical companies

Yulia Tymoshenko has faced accusations of lobbying for the interests of several pharmaceutical distributors with the aim of redistributing the drug market in Ukraine. This is stated in an investigation published by the outlet "Fakty".

According to the journalists, the issue concerns an attempt to use political mechanisms to displace leaders in the pharmaceutical market and gain control over pricing. It is alleged that this would allow distributors linked to Tymoshenko to raise drug prices without oversight.

The investigation pays particular attention to a meeting held on 14 December 2024 at the Ministry of Health. The session discussed amendments to bill No. 11493, which simplifies the process of registering medicinal products. Tymoshenko's proposals were supported by three companies: Volynfarm LLC, Konex Sole Proprietorship, and Venta LLC.

These firms, which hold a relatively small share of the market, are seeking to strengthen their positions by weakening major players such as BADM and Optima-Pharm. 

However, according to the authors of the investigation, achieving this through fair market competition is difficult. Therefore, it is presumed that the distributors turned to Tymoshenko for help as a lobbyist capable of destabilising the market and advancing their interests.
