Address to the public at the station

The Chancellor also drew attention to the approaching fifth winter of the war for Ukrainians. He noted that Russia continues to shell cities, residential buildings, and energy infrastructure, including thermal power plants. At the same time, the German leader underscored the resilience of the Ukrainian people.

During his speech, Friedrich Merz announced a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, during which he is set to assure the head of state of the continuation of German support.

Summarising his view on the relations between the two countries, the Chancellor noted: "Our partnership is a two-way street. German and Ukrainian companies are jointly developing technologies that benefit both countries. This makes us more secure and stronger."
