Chisinau to declare Russian diplomat persona non grata over drone crash near residence

The Government of Moldova has decided to declare an employee of the Russian embassy persona non grata. This step is prompted by the incident involving the crash of an unmanned aerial vehicle in the village of Kishtelnitsya in Telenești district.

Circumstances of the UAV crash

According to preliminary police data, the drone crashed in a residential area, with the distance to the nearest house being approximately 100 metres. Fortunately, no residents were injured. Following the incident, the area around the crash site was immediately cordoned off for the investigation.

Chisinau's reaction

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova officially condemned the violation of the country's airspace. The department held Russia responsible for this case, calling it a gross violation of sovereignty and a direct threat to the safety of citizens.

Official Chisinau emphasised that such incidents are unacceptable. The Foreign Ministry noted that this case once again highlighted the risks associated with the aggressive war that the Russian Federation is waging against Ukraine.

The country's authorities appealed to Moscow to cease any actions that pose a threat to regional security and human life.
