Users of the mobile operator Kyivstar may lose access to their number resources if they do not perform financial transactions within a year. The company emphasised that the total activity limit is 365 days, but a transition period is provided that allows saving the number from final disconnection. The main condition for retention is topping up the balance with a minimum amount of 30 hryvnia.
Two stages of losing activity
The 365-day validity period for prepaid tariffs starts from the date of the last top-up or payment for services. This period is divided into two phases with different options for the subscriber.
The first phase lasts 274 days. During this time, the number remains fully active: the user has the right to make calls, send SMS, and use mobile internet in accordance with the chosen service package.
If the account is not topped up during these 274 days, the number automatically moves to the second phase, which lasts another 91 days. During this period, suspension mode is in effect. The operator sends an SMS reminder about the need to make a payment, and connectivity functionality is significantly limited. Specifically, calls can only be made to the company's service numbers.
After the completion of the full 365-day cycle without any activity, the number is subject to deactivation.
Which payments extend the life of the number
To remove the number from the suspended state and restore full access to services, it is necessary to top up the account with a single payment of at least 30 hryvnia.
At the same time, Kyivstar warns that not every financial transaction is considered a top-up for the purposes of extending the validity period. In particular, the use of the "Extra money" option and transfers of funds between subscribers are not counted as activity that preserves the number.
To correctly extend the validity period, it is recommended to make a standard balance top-up or pay for a specific service package under the tariff plan. This information is critically important for owners of additional SIM cards that are used irregularly or remain inactive for a long time.
Ways to check the remaining time
Subscribers can independently monitor how many days are left until blocking in two ways:
- Through the "My Kyivstar" mobile application. You need to go to the "Profile" section, and then to the "My numbers" item, where current information about the validity period is displayed.
- Using the USSD command *114#. After dialling this code, the system sends data about the status of the number without the need to contact support operators.
The company advises periodically checking these indicators, especially if the SIM card is used rarely. It is worth remembering that the described conditions mainly apply to prepaid tariffs; for contract subscribers, the terms of service may have differences.
