The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine officially refuted reports circulating online about alleged torture and unlawful detention of military personnel at a temporary deployment point of the National Guard in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka (Kyiv region). According to the Ministry's leadership, these events were a pre-planned provocation.
This was stated by Interior Minister Ivan Vyhovsky during a briefing. He emphasised that available information regarding deaths and torture does not correspond to reality. At the same time, the minister noted that the Office of the Investigative Bureau has already opened a criminal case concerning the actions of military officials.
According to Ivan Vyhovsky's explanations, the source of the false information was a woman who presented herself as a representative of the medical service. She arrived at the scene in a vehicle that had been modified to resemble an ambulance and equipped with the corresponding symbols of the emergency medical service.
The minister detailed the course of events:
«І почалося все з того, що ця псевдомедик прибула на автомобілі, переобладнаному під швидку меддопомогу, зі шевроном екстреної меддопомоги. І ця жінка емоційно показувала цей стрім, після чого це побачило багато осіб і після цього там почали збиратися люди» (And it all started with the fact that this pseudo-medical worker arrived in a vehicle modified to look like an ambulance, with an emergency medical aid chevron. And this woman emotionally showed this stream, after which many people saw it and then people started gathering there), – Vyhovsky said.
The use of visible medical service symbols was intended to amplify public resonance.
Law enforcement agencies detained the woman posing as a medical worker and the driver of the vehicle mimicking an ambulance. The detention was carried out under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasises that the incident was carefully planned.
