Customs officers at the Ukrainian-Romanian border detected an attempt to import a large batch of goods without proper declaration. The incident occurred at the "Dyakove" customs post, where 102 units of household appliances and power tools were found during the inspection of a minibus.

How the stop occurred

The vehicle was driven by a 45-year-old resident of Zakarpattia region. The man was transporting passengers from the Czech Republic and arrived at the border crossing point, choosing the "green corridor". This mode implies that the citizen is not moving goods that require mandatory written declaration, payment of customs duties, or are subject to legal restrictions.

However, inspectors discovered a large quantity of goods among personal belongings during the examination. The quantity and variety of the items indicated a commercial nature of the transport, rather than personal use.

What was attempted to be imported

Among the seized property were chainsaws, trimmers, aerogrills, vacuum cleaners, and vertical steamers. The products belonged to well-known trademarks: Parkside, Bosch, Tefal, Sharp, Philips, and Switch.

The driver admitted that the goods were his property. According to customs officers' estimates, the quantity and nature of the products significantly exceeded the established limits for duty-free import. Under current legislation, the limit for individuals is up to 500 euros and up to 50 kg.

Legal consequences

A protocol was drawn up against the offender under Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The entire batch of goods was seized. Currently, a specialist expert will determine the final value of the products. A further decision will be made in accordance with the procedure defined by customs legislation.

It was previously reported that 35 undeclared Apple devices with a total approximate value of around 1 million hryvnia were found in international postal shipments from the USA at the "Lviv Postal" customs post. These included iPad, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air. These shipments bear signs of a violation of customs rules under Part 1 of Article 473 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
