Charge of demanding a bribe
Andriy Kharlampovych, who serves as deputy head of the Western Interregional Directorate of the State Labour Service and is a deputy of the Kovel district council, has received an official notification of suspicion. He is suspected of demanding 20,000 dollars from a representative of an entrepreneur.
As journalists from the publication "VolynPost" learned from their own sources, the incident occurred against the backdrop of an investigation into the circumstances of a builder's death in Volyn. According to the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine, the official demanded money to ensure he would not obstruct the work of the commission investigating the causes of the tragedy during the construction of a private residential house.
The worker died as a result of a fall from a height. A special commission was established to determine the circumstances of the incident, and its conclusion was to be approved by an official from the State Labour Service. The investigation believes that Kharlampovych offered to ensure the approval of a truthful conclusion for money, and threatened the entrepreneur with unfavourable consequences of the investigation in case of refusal.
Preventive measure and qualification
The official's actions were qualified under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was suspended from his duties, and the court selected a preventive measure in the form of 24-hour house arrest with the use of an electronic bracelet.
