Six regions without power supply
As a result of prolonged Russian military attacks on civilian energy infrastructure, power outages were recorded in six regions by the morning of 26 October. Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Sumy regions were affected.
Emergency works and overload risks
According to Ukrenergo, emergency repair and restoration work is already underway where safety conditions permit. Energy workers are making every effort to restore power to all affected consumers as quickly as possible.
However, to prevent overloading equipment that was damaged in previous shelling, load-limiting schedules for industry and hourly outages (up to 2.5 stages) for all categories of consumers will be enforced in some regions until the end of the current day.
Reduction in overall consumption
Data as of 09:30 on 26 October shows that total electricity consumption decreased by 5.8% compared to the same time on Friday, 23 October. The main cause of these changes was the mandatory restrictions introduced following enemy strikes.
Meanwhile, the daily consumption peak recorded on the evening of 25 October was 4.8% higher than the peak on the previous Sunday, 18 October. This was due to falling air temperatures, which prompted consumers to use electric heaters in the evening.
Appeal to citizens
«Враховуючи наслідки російських обстрілів та погодні умови, зберігається необхідність в ощадливому споживанні електроенергії у вечірні години. Будь ласка, обмежте користування потужними електроприладами з 16:00 до 22:00» (Given the consequences of Russian shelling and weather conditions, the need for economical electricity consumption in the evening hours remains. Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances from 16:00 to 22:00), the official statement emphasises.
Ukrainians are urged to consume electricity economically during the period of restrictive measures. The specific outage schedule for a particular address can be checked on the official resources of the respective regional energy company (distribution system operator).
Since the situation in the power grid may change due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, please monitor current announcements on the websites and social media pages of the distribution system operator.
