Heart of tactical medicine veteran stops

Vasyl Shyrokorad, who went by the callsign "Tourist", has died in Ukraine. He was a well-known military paramedic and tactical medicine instructor. His death was announced by People's Deputy Yana Zinkevych and representatives of the "Hospitaliers" medical volunteer battalion.

Prolonged fight for life

In a comment on the "Hospitaliers" battalion's page, they described the difficult path Vasyl had gone through. According to them, he was wounded multiple times at the front, underwent numerous surgical procedures, and had many serious diagnoses. His body held out for a long time, but his heart stopped this night.

«Ми вже зв’язалися з родиною та передали наші співчуття від усього батальйону. Розділяємо біль рідних і близьких Василя» (We have already contacted the family and conveyed our condolences from the entire battalion. We share the pain of Vasyl's relatives and loved ones), the battalion stated.

Assisting journalists in the combat zone

In addition to his military service, Vasyl Shyrokorad had significant experience in the field of safety. Prior to the full-scale invasion, he worked as a specialist conducting professional training courses on providing pre-medical aid. These courses were designed for journalists preparing to carry out assignments in conditions of active combat operations.

Reaction from colleagues at the Institute of Mass Information

At the Institute of Mass Information (IMI), they recalled Vasyl's high qualifications and personal qualities. Media expert and IMI safety trainer Iryna Zemniana called him an exceptionally professional specialist who had vast experience and confidence in his work. She emphasised that Vasyl was genuinely happy when journalists completed training in providing pre-medical aid in combat conditions.

«Дякую тобі, воїне, за порятунок життів на фронті та за знання, які ти ніс! Честь!» (Thank you, warrior, for saving lives at the front and for the knowledge you carried! Honour!), Iryna Zemniana wrote.

Details regarding the date, time, and place of burial are to be announced later.
