Ukrainian performer Anastasia Prykhodko gave an interview to the "Vlast vs Vlashchenko" channel, where she expressed concern over current demographic trends. In her words, the state's most important task right now is to preserve its people.
The artist emphasised that any rebuilding, even starting from scratch, is futile if there is no one left to rebuild the country.
«Нам зараз важливо зберегти нас, а потім уже починати хоч з нуля. Але вже 9 мільйонів виїхало за кордон, і дедалі більше людей продовжують виїжджати» ("What is important for us now is to preserve ourselves, and then we can start, even from scratch. But nine million have already left the country, and more and more people continue to leave"), she stressed.
It is worth noting that the figure of nine million emigrants was stated by Prykhodko herself. She did not refer to official statistics that would confirm exactly that number of citizens who left.
The singer called the current situation with Ukrainians leaving the country catastrophic. She linked this outflow to the prolonged war and the loss of life.
Separately, Prykhodko drew attention to a paradoxical situation at the border: while Ukrainians are scattering across the world, people are coming to the country for work. According to the artist's assessment, Ukraine had never experienced such a phenomenon before.
«У нас такого ніколи не було. Сам факт – це якась катастрофа» ("We have never had such a thing. The fact itself is some kind of catastrophe"), Prykhodko said.
The performer also noted that she does not understand why no one has been able to stop the war so far.
