Director Sokolov recounts chance encounter with Yanukovych in St Petersburg

Chance encounter in 2014

Russian director Kyrylo Sokolov shared memories of an unexpected meeting with former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. The incident took place in St Petersburg in 2014.

What the director saw

According to Sokolov, he noticed a person engaged in counting cash. The director described the situation as follows:

«Я бачу руки, які рахують "котлету" грошей, рублів… Він обходить машину спереду, і [я дивлюся] — Янукович» (I see hands counting a "patty" of money, rubles... He walks around the car from the front, and [I look] — it is Yanukovych).

Thus, Sokolov witnessed Yanukovych walking around the front of the car while counting a large bundle of Russian rubles.
