Counterintelligence reveals new disinformation scheme

The Security Service of Ukraine warns of Russia’s intensified preparation of a series of information-psychological special operations. Their focus is on the situation in the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky in Kherson region.

The special service obtained this data during its counterintelligence activities.

What will be filmed

According to available operational information, servicemen of one of the units of the occupying forces have received orders to prepare a series of so-called "compromising" interviews involving residents of the temporarily occupied city.

In line with the adversary's plan, local residents in these videos must:

  • accuse the Defence Forces of Ukraine of constant shelling and the blockade of the city;
  • discredit the decisions of the military-political leadership of our state;
  • express a positive attitude and gratitude towards the servicemen of the aggressor country.

Timeline for implementing the plan

According to SBU data, the launch of this hostile information-psychological operation is planned for October to early November this year.

Official comment from the special service

The SBU press service emphasised that the aggressor, having no success on the battlefield, is attempting by all means to undermine the psycho-emotional state of Ukrainians and destabilise the internal situation in the country.

The SBU calls on representatives of Ukrainian media and citizens to adhere to the following rules:

  • approach the emergence of such "sensational" information critically;
  • do not trust publications from hostile or pro-Russian Telegram channels;
  • do not spread unverified data;
  • use information exclusively from official sources.
