Court hearing of case against grain trader owner
Pre-trial investigation has been completed in Ukraine in the criminal case against Russian oligarch Oleksiy Fedorichev, who is the owner of the international company Fedcominvest. The case materials have been handed over to the court. The charges relate to the organisation of a scheme that caused significant financial losses to the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (DPZKU).
Details of the charges: grain supply scheme
According to investigation data, Fedorichev acted as the organiser of grain supplies to Saudi Arabia. This process was implemented through a network of economic entities. A key element of the deal was the deferred payment condition, which, according to the investigators, did not comply with current market norms. As a result of such a contract structure, DPZKU did not receive funds for the grain actually delivered.
Amount of losses and methods of money laundering
According to the prosecution, the total amount of losses inflicted on the state corporation is $60 million. Additionally, the investigation established that over $40.9 million of these funds was laundered. Foreign companies registered in Cyprus were used for this purpose.
The guilt or innocence of the accused will be determined by the court during the trial.
