TikTok already unavailable in the US

TikTok already unavailable in the US. The app stopped working on 19 January in China time. Meanwhile, it was still 18 January in the US.

The app became unavailable to American users because the company refused to meet the requirement to sell the business to an American owner. 

This condition was put forward as a guarantee that the data of 170 million US users would not be handed over to Chinese authorities. As a result, TikTok disappeared from the App Store, and users see a corresponding notification when attempting to log in to the app.

The CapCut programme, popular among users for video editing, was also blocked simultaneously.

The platform's fate remains uncertain for now. Chinese company ByteDance, which owns TikTok, hopes for a possibility of resolving the conflict with Donald Trump, who is preparing to take office as president. The Joe Biden administration previously took a hard line on this issue, which caused the current crisis.
