Strategy for retaining power after losing control of Congress
US President Donald Trump informed his advisers of his intention not to cease fundraising for his political structure. This initiative is aimed at preserving significant influence over the Republican Party following its defeat in the midterm elections for Congress.
According to Axios, citing sources, the organisation MAGA Inc. or a new structure that may be created in its place could become a key tool for the president to influence the 2028 elections and future campaigns. Possessing substantial financial resources will also allow Trump to pressure Republican lawmakers who may distance themselves from him after the party loses control of Congress.
Financial scale and campaign results
Since the beginning of 2025, the organisation MAGA Inc. has raised nearly $450 million. According to Axios sources, over $400 million was spent supporting Republican candidates during the midterm elections. Despite such significant financial investments, the Republicans suffered a defeat in the vote.
Reasons for voter dissatisfaction
Among the reasons for voter dissatisfaction were the war against Iran, high price levels, and concerns about corruption within the presidential administration.
