Awaiting confirmation from mediators

The Ukrainian side is not yet ready to officially confirm the holding of trilateral consultations between Ukraine, the United States and Russia, which, according to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, are scheduled to take place on 4 November in Abu Dhabi.

Leader of the parliamentary faction “Servant of the People”, David Arakhamia, explained in a comment to TSN that a final decision on the date of the meeting has not yet been made. According to him, the participants in the process continue to coordinate the schedule and are awaiting final confirmation from the US delegation, which is acting as a mediator in these negotiations.

«Сторони все ще визначаються з датою проведення і чекають підтвердження від американської делегації, яка є посередником в цих перемовинах» (The parties are still determining the date of the event and are awaiting confirmation from the US delegation, which is a mediator in these negotiations), Arakhamia noted.

Calls for restraint

President’s communications adviser Dmytro Lytvyn holds a similar position. On Tuesday, 27 October, he told journalists that it is premature to make public announcements about specific dates.

«Давайте дочекаємось хоча б кінця жовтня. Ще зарано робити оголошення» (Let’s wait at least until the end of October. It is still too early to make announcements), Lytvyn said.

Context of the announcement

It was previously reported that Donald Tusk announced the preliminary planning of negotiations between Ukraine, Russia and the US at the team level. According to this information, the meeting was to take place on 4 November of the current year in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
