Response to infrastructure threats

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered the development of a programme for free travel on Kyiv's ground transport. This decision was made against the backdrop of risks associated with Russian shelling, which could lead to problems in the operation of the metro or bridges across the Dnipro.

Directives for the Cabinet of Ministers

The head of state emphasised the need for specific measures by the government aimed at guaranteeing the stable operation of ground city transport in the event of possible malfunctions in the metro system or damage to bridge crossings over the Dnipro.

«Необхідно, щоб уряд забезпечив конкретні кроки для стабільної та гарантованої роботи наземного міського транспорту при можливих перебоях у метро або проблемах з мостами через Дніпро. Доручив прем’єр-міністру розробити програму безкоштовного проїзду в наземному транспорті та створити достатній резерв автобусів для столиці» (It is necessary for the government to ensure specific steps for the stable and guaranteed operation of ground city transport in the event of possible disruptions in the metro or problems with bridges across the Dnipro. I have instructed the Prime Minister to develop a programme for free travel on ground transport and to create a sufficient reserve of buses for the capital), Zelensky said.

Thus, the Prime Minister is to prepare the relevant programme, which provides for free use of ground transport, as well as to form an adequate reserve of the bus fleet for the needs of Kyiv.
