Ex-Attorney General Kulik challenges sanctions

Former Attorney General Konstantin Kulik is challenging the 10-year sanctions imposed by Volodymyr Zelensky at the Supreme Court of Ukraine.

These restrictions include the freezing of assets, a ban on trade operations, and a prohibition on purchasing land plots.

Reasons for imposing sanctions against Kulik

In 2024, Kulik was placed on the wanted list and was charged in absentia with collaborating with Russian special services.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), he was a member of a criminal organisation funded by the Russian General Staff to the tune of $10 million.
Together with People's Deputies Andriy Derkach and Oleksandr Dubinsky, Kulik disseminated pro-Russian propaganda and attempted to influence Ukraine's international policy.

Case progress and the fate of the defendants

Derkach's aide, Kolesnikov, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison.
Oleksandr Dubinsky was detained and is currently in custody. The remaining defendants will be tried in absentia.
