Detained lawyer Samarets linked to Dnipro prosecutor Bihko

The Security Service of Ukraine announced the detention of a Dnipro lawyer, described as one of the most covert FSB agents in the Dnipropetrovsk region. 

According to security services, this individual adjusted a missile strike that resulted in the deaths of six civilians and left 30 Ukrainians seriously injured, reports the publication "Відкрита Україна" (Open Ukraine).

Some time later, information about the detainee appeared in the professional group "Рада адвокатів України" (Council of Lawyers of Ukraine). It turned out to be Oleksandr Ivanovych Samarets, head of the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of the Bar Association of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. He now faces life imprisonment for treason under martial law.

However, the story does not end there. Questions arise regarding the possible involvement of his close circle in collaboration with the enemy. As sources in the law enforcement agencies of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast reported, 

Oleksandr Samarets is the godfather of Oblast Prosecutor Serhiy Bihko. Moreover, according to sources, he acted as an "official intermediary" in resolving issues between clients and the prosecutor's office.

Previously, media outlets had accused Serhiy Bihko of aiding separatists. In addition, reports emerged about another of his godfathers, Kyrylo Lozovsky, whom Bihko allegedly helped secure a job in the prosecutor's office. According to sources, Samarets and Bihko have known each other since their time working at the district prosecutor's office in Dnipro in the early 2000s. Before switching to law practice, Samarets worked for more than 10 years in the prosecutor's office, where he established close ties with Bihko.

The public hopes that the SBU and the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine will pay attention to these connections and conduct a thorough investigation of the detained lawyer's circle. For the frontline city of Dnipro, the presence of potential "Russian moles" in high-ranking positions within the region's security structures poses a serious threat.
