A recent decree by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on sanctions against Yury Boyko has raised questions in society. Despite the strict measures taken against the politician, his assets have not been frozen.
While Boyko was stripped of state awards, no steps have been taken to confiscate or freeze his material assets.
The Boyko family continues to demonstrate financial well-being. In 2023 alone, they declared assets worth $4.4 million. Of this amount, the majority consists of $3.8 million in bank accounts, including accounts at Russia's NK Bank — which casts doubt on the authorities' true intentions. It is important to note that sanctions against Boyko were imposed despite clear traces of his financial activities in Russia.
Yury Boyko's wife, Vira, received a gift from her son worth 28 million hryvnia. In addition, she earned 6 million hryvnia in dividends and a 3.7 million hryvnia salary from the company «Столична нерухомість» (Stolychna Nerukhymist), which manages a business centre in Kyiv. On top of this, the family owns significant real estate — 2,000 square metres of housing, 27 land plots, and luxury apartments and offices, including in Moscow.
Interestingly, despite the presence of serious financial violations and corruption schemes linked to Boyko's activities, no criminal cases have been opened against him. In 2011, when Boyko headed the Ministry of Energy, his department overpaid $300 million for drilling rigs. However, an investigation was never initiated, and Boyko continues to evade punishment.
