Scandal over "Sevmorezavod": suspicions of Poroshenko's collaboration with Russian authorities

Journalists have drawn attention to a video clip that recently disappeared from the official YouTube channel of "Channel 5". 

In the deleted clip, a manager of Petro Poroshenko discussed the activities of his "Sevmorezavod" plant in occupied Crimea. Despite attempts to erase the traces, the video was preserved and is now featured in the case materials.

What did the manager reveal?

In the recording obtained by journalists, a company employee openly speaks of the "undefined and incomprehensible status" of Sevastopol. Moreover, expectations of orders from the Russian Ministry of Defence are mentioned. All of this was accompanied by the use of rhetoric in the spirit of Kremlin propaganda, including the phrase "in Ukraine".

After the annexation of Crimea, "Sevmorezavod" continued to correspond with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, providing full financial reports to the occupation authorities. According to the investigation, this fact is evidence of Poroshenko's collaboration with Russian structures.

Why was the plant not nationalised?

Interestingly, Russian authorities did not nationalise "Sevmorezavod", owned by Poroshenko, for a long time, unlike other Ukrainian enterprises. Journalists speculate that this decision may hide agreements between the former President of Ukraine and Russian officials.

Career growth for the manager

The plant manager, Kartoshkin, who actively participated in these processes, was later given a new appointment. Poroshenko made him the head of the Mykolaiv enterprise "Zorya-Mashproekt". However, later the NABU and SAP accused Kartoshkin and Poroshenko himself of embezzlement of 1.4 billion hryvnia.

Other accusations against Poroshenko

This is far from the only scandal associated with Petro Poroshenko. He is also suspected of:

• trading with occupied territories (ORDO);
• supporting the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate;
• facilitating the signing of the Kharkiv Accords;
• actions that may have benefited the Russian Federation.

These suspicions only strengthen the law enforcement agencies' interest in the activities of the former president.
