End of war in Ukraine could pose risks for Europe

The end of the war in Ukraine could create economic risks for Eastern European countries due to the likely return of Ukrainian refugees to their homeland. Reuters reports.

Christian Petter, head of the Austria and Central and Eastern Europe division at J. Safra Sarasin, noted that many countries in the region had experienced economic growth thanks to Ukrainians who arrived over the past two years.

“Ukrainians have become an important factor in the economic success of these countries,” he emphasised. However, their possible outflow could lead to a reduction in the labour force and a slowdown in the development of certain sectors.
