Financial support for 2027

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with the President of the Bundestag, Julia Klöckner. During the talks, the parties examined in detail the issue of financing Ukraine's needs for the following year. According to information from the President's Office, €11.6bn has already been allocated in the German federal budget for aid to Kyiv in 2027.

«Ми робимо все можливе, щоб якнайшвидше закінчити війну, але маємо бути готові захищати Україну та нашу незалежність. Дякую Німеччині за розуміння всіх наших потреб, і розраховуємо, що рішення буде ухвалене» (We are doing everything possible to end the war as soon as possible, but we must be ready to defend Ukraine and our independence. I thank Germany for understanding all our needs, and we expect a decision to be made), the Head of State emphasised.

Protection of energy infrastructure and logistics

A separate part of the conversation was devoted to the state of the energy sector. Volodymyr Zelensky informed his interlocutor about the consequences of daily strikes by Russian forces on Ukrainian cities and communities. He noted that the aggressor's main targets remain energy infrastructure and logistics chains. Currently, the country's power grid is in a difficult situation, leading to serious power outages in many regions.

The leaders discussed specific ways in which Germany can strengthen support for Ukraine's energy sector and provide additional means of defence against missile and drone attacks.

Assessment of Germany's role

The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude for Berlin's position. «Ми дуже цінуємо німецьке лідерство в захисті життів наших людей, у підтримці нашої енергетики та спільній роботі для того, щоб росія понесла відповідальність за цю свою війну» (We highly value German leadership in protecting the lives of our people, in supporting our energy sector, and in joint efforts to ensure that Russia bears responsibility for this war of its own), he stressed.
