Undervaluation in declarations

Staff of Kyiv Customs uncovered a scheme of false declaration of goods sent via international postal shipments. The sender processed three parcels (numbers LR548005120NL, LR526387625NL and LR526387617NL) as ordinary tools for active recreation.

In the customs documents, the value of each item was listed as 5 euros, which significantly understated the actual price of the cargo.

Discovery of actual contents

During a customs inspection at a post office in Kyiv, it was established that the actual contents of the parcels did not match the declared data. Instead of inexpensive items, the boxes contained dozens of sets of housings for folding knives, replacement blades and branded accessories.

Among the seized goods were products from American brands Microtech (specifically Scarab II, Combat Troodon and UTX-85 models) and Reate Knives. According to the expert opinion, the total value of the seized goods is 10,436.53 UAH.

Court ruling

On 23 October 2026, the Solomiansky District Court of the city of Kyiv issued a ruling in case No. 760/29092/26. The court found the sender guilty of violating customs rules under Part 1 of Article 473 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The violation consisted in the fact that the actual name and quantity of the goods did not match the data in the declaration.

A fine of 50% of the value of the goods — 5,218.27 UAH — was imposed on the offender. Additionally, a court fee of 605.60 UAH was collected from him. The batch of knives and components was confiscated for the benefit of the state.
