Rail traffic continues despite attacks
Multiple Russian strikes on infrastructure facilities in Dnipro and Kharkiv have not led to a complete halt of railway connections in these regions. However, as noted by Ukrzaliznytsia Board Chairman Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, some trains have been switched to multimodal transfers.
Which services were affected
The most significant route adjustments affected four directions, where trains were delayed in Dnipro due to damage to carriages and locomotives. These are the services:
- No. 40/39 from Solotvyno;
- No. 6/5 from Yasinia;
- No. 42/41 from Truskavets;
- No. 86/85 from Lviv.
Passengers on these trains were given the opportunity to continue their journey to Lviv using diesel and electric trains from the terminal stations, and then on replacement carriages.
Organisation of transfers and passenger support
All necessary details regarding specific transfers are sent to passengers via push notifications in the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile app. Additional teams of company employees are working at the stations where transfers take place. Volunteers from the World Central Kitchen organisation are also providing people with hot food, drinking water, and snacks.
Refunds and rolling stock restoration
For those passengers for whom the combined logistics proved too complicated, Ukrzaliznytsia offers the option of a full refund for tickets online through the company's special service.
The railway company emphasises that railway workers, together with international partners, are working on restoring the rolling stock. Up-to-date information on all changes in train movements can be checked in the official app and on Ukrzaliznytsia's resources.
