Intensification of economic dialogue with Washington

Kyrylo Dmytriev, who serves as Vladimir Putin's special representative, plays a key role in promoting the idea of concluding economic agreements between Moscow and Washington. His goal is to convince Donald Trump's administration that cooperation with Russia before the end of the war in Ukraine is beneficial, proposing large-scale joint projects for discussion.

Priority areas for cooperation

According to journalists, potential areas of interaction include:

• the energy sector;
• civil aviation;
• the extraction of rare earth elements;
• the development of artificial intelligence and other technologies.

One Moscow diplomat characterised the recently concluded agreement on diesel fuel supplies as a possible prerequisite for the launch of significantly broader economic partnership.

Negotiation strategy tailored to US interests

Russian researcher Andriy Pertsev from the Carnegie Endowment notes that Dmytriev clearly understands the priorities of the American leadership and builds his tactics taking these interests into account.

Initial results of diplomatic pressure

According to Le Monde, this strategy has already yielded certain results. In particular, US special envoy Steve Witkoff has shown interest in the prospects of implementing large joint projects. The publication also believes that Donald Trump's position towards Russia has become more favourable for Moscow.

It is worth noting that these are assessments by the French media and its sources. The mere fact of discussing potential economic projects does not mean that all proposed deals have been agreed upon or will be implemented.
