Former head of the Prosecutor General's Office Kravchenko publicly accused the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) of carrying out "political revenge". According to him, the raids conducted on three employees of the Security Service of Ukraine are a direct consequence of investigations these units conducted regarding the leadership of the anti-corruption agencies.

Accusations of destabilising the situation

In his statement, Kravchenko emphasised that SBU representatives came under attack, whose units were handling criminal cases against NABU Director Semyon Kryvonos. He also claimed that the investigations touched upon the closest circle of the head of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), Oleksandr Klymenko, including members of his family.

«НАБУ проводить обшуки у трьох співробітниках СБУ, чиї підрозділи вели кримінальні справи проти директора НАБУ Семена Кривоноса та найближчого оточення голови САП Олександра Клименка, включно з членами його сім'ї. Дії НАБУ та САП — це не що інше, як політична помста та спроби дестабілізувати ситуацію в країні» (NABU is conducting raids on three SBU employees whose units were handling criminal cases against NABU Director Semyon Kryvonos and the closest circle of SAP head Oleksandr Klymenko, including members of his family. The actions of NABU and SAP are nothing but political revenge and attempts to destabilise the situation in the country), the former prosecutor general stated.

Context of the "Carthage" case

It was previously reported that NABU is investigating cases related to the protection of fraudulent call centres. It is known that it was after the first wave of arrests at the Prosecutor General's Office within the framework of the "Carthage" case that Kravchenko left the country.
