Republic leader's reaction to the incident

Moldovan President Maya Sandu publicly expressed her stance on the Russian shelling of Ukrainian regions. This attack resulted in five unmanned aerial vehicles crossing the border and entering the territory of the neighbouring state.

The politician published the relevant statement in her account on the social media platform X.

Sandu condemned the actions of Russian military forces, which attacked Ukraine on the morning of 3 October. She emphasised that the armed conflict is "dangerously approaching Moldova".

«П’ять російських засобів повітряного нападу, зокрема ракети "Бандероль" та безпілотники, порушили наш повітряний простір і вибухнули на нашій території. Москва ставить під загрозу життя людей по всій Європі, і її необхідно зупинити» (Five Russian air attack weapons, including "Bandierol" missiles and drones, violated our airspace and exploded on our territory. Moscow is threatening the lives of people across Europe, and it must be stopped), the head of state noted.

Chronology of airspace violations

According to Moldova's national airspace monitoring system, the flight of several unmanned aerial vehicles over the country was recorded on the morning of 3 October.

A similar incident occurred previously. On the morning of 30 September, a drone flew through the republic's airspace, after which it crashed outside the village of Hirbovets, located in the Anenii Noi district, and exploded.
