OpenAI accuses DeepSeek of illegal data use

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has accused the Chinese company DeepSeek of using its data to develop its own artificial intelligence model, according to Financial Times.

Sources indicate that DeepSeek employed distillation, a method that allows new neural networks to be trained based on data obtained from more powerful models. While this approach is widespread in the AI sector, OpenAI prohibits its use for creating competing products.

 An OpenAI representative noted that the primary issue is the use of distillation not for research purposes, but to create a commercially successful alternative.
 The company is convinced that DeepSeek gained access to its data through illegal means and applied it to train its own AI.

DeepSeek has not yet issued an official statement, but the situation could escalate into a serious conflict in the artificial intelligence market.
