Trump says he will invite Zelensky to G20 summit

US leader Donald Trump officially confirmed his intention to invite the head of the Ukrainian state, Volodymyr Zelensky, to the Group of Twenty (G20) meeting planned for December in Miami. The American President spoke positively on the matter, stating that he sees no obstacles to such participation.

Reaction to press questions

During a conversation with the press, journalists drew Trump's attention to the fact that Washington had already invited Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. In response to the question of whether Zelensky would receive a similar opportunity, the US President answered concisely: "Я б... так, я б із задоволенням. Без проблем" (I would... yes, I would gladly. No problem).

State Department position and summit details

Earlier, on 31 October, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that Zelensky's visit to the G20 depended on whether he received an invitation from Trump. At that point, no final decision had been made.

The G20 events will take place on 14-15 December in Miami. It is known that as early as September, the United States had invited Vladimir Putin to this event. Potentially, a meeting between Trump and Putin may occur.

Previously, Volodymyr Zelensky proposed to Putin to hold a meeting within the framework of this summit, but the Kremlin chief refused. Meanwhile, Donald Trump mentioned that he did not yet know whether Putin would agree to a trilateral meeting, which could take place in Miami.
