Sudden death of artist during event
A tragic incident occurred in Lviv on November 2: Ivanna Tkachyk died suddenly during a concert by saxophonist Oleg Balanko at the Officers' House. The singer, who was the soloist of the well-known band "Kraynia Khata" and held the position of administrator at the Lviv National Philharmonic, passed away at the age of 60.
According to the musician, at the beginning of the event, the audience member, who was Ivanna Tkachyk, felt unwell. Medical staff present in the hall immediately attempted to provide her with assistance, but they were unable to revive the artist.
Resuscitation lasted over half an hour
The Lviv Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine reported that witnesses to the tragedy performed resuscitation using an automated external defibrillator, after which they were joined by medics from an ambulance crew. The total time spent fighting for Ivanna Tkachyk's life was more than half an hour, but this did not yield a positive result.
It is known that Ivanna Tkachyk had health problems: she suffered from cardiac arrhythmia and took the necessary medication.
Reaction from colleagues and the music community
Oleg Balanko spoke about the loss on his Facebook page. "It is difficult for me to describe my state of mind: despair, hopelessness, the irreversibility of the loss. The music community has lost a wonderful artist, a great organiser, and a charming woman, Ivanna Tkachyk. It was truly a sudden death at my concert. Although I am writing these lines in full consciousness, it is hard to find the words. And would they help anyway? The only thing that can be said is that a true artist died in a chair in the concert hall without pain or suffering. God took her away at the concert," he wrote.
Colleagues from the Lviv National Philharmonic also expressed their condolences. They noted that Ivanna Tkachyk had dedicated more than 35 years of her life to the cultural institution and showed care to every member of the ensemble. Her death was an irreparable loss for the institution.
