Attempts to obtain data on international cooperation
Rustem Umerov, Head of the External Intelligence Service, stated that unknown individuals are sending messages to representatives of the diplomatic corps and Ukraine's partners in various countries, impersonating him.
The aim of these approaches is to obtain information about Ukraine's work with partners and details of international negotiations.
Appeal to diplomatic representatives
Umerov emphasised that against the backdrop of intensified diplomatic efforts, cases of such messages are being recorded again.
«На тлі активізації дипломатичних зусиль знову фіксуємо повідомлення, які надсилаються від мого імені представникам дипломатичного корпусу та нашим партнерам у різних країнах» (Against the backdrop of intensified diplomatic efforts, we are again recording messages sent in my name to representatives of the diplomatic corps and our partners in various countries), Umerov wrote.
According to him, in such messages, unknown individuals attempt to establish contact and find out about the nature of Kyiv's cooperation with partners and the progress of international negotiations.
How to verify the authenticity of a contact
The Head of the SRS urged not to respond to such approaches and not to transmit any information if there is even the slightest doubt about the contact.
He advised additionally verifying the phone number, account, or email address through official diplomatic channels, the relevant authority of your country, or Ukrainian diplomats.
In the event of receiving such a message, one should not engage in conversation; instead, the Ukrainian side must be informed about it.
«Якщо отримали підозріле повідомлення від мого імені – не вступайте у переписку та повідомте про це українську сторону. Будьте уважні» (If you have received a suspicious message in my name – do not enter into correspondence and inform the Ukrainian side about it. Be cautious), Umerov added.
