Viahcheslav Zinchenko appeals verdict in Irina Fariion murder case

Appeal of first-instance decision

Viahcheslav Zinchenko has officially appealed the verdict finding him guilty of the murder of the renowned linguist Irina Fariion. An appeal against the decision of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv was filed with the court on 3 November.

Chronology of the court proceedings

The decision finding Zinchenko guilty of the crime was pronounced on 1 October. At that time, the accused did not admit his guilt. Under current legislation, the defence had 30 days from the pronouncement of the verdict to file an appeal.
