Historically low level of trust in the head of state
French President Emmanuel Macron has reached the lowest popularity level during his entire tenure in office. According to the results of a survey conducted by the Ipsos BVA-Cesi agency and published by La Tribune Dimanche, only 15% of citizens approve of his work. This is the worst result since his victory in the 2017 elections.
Dynamics of changes and key societal issues
Over the past month, the satisfaction level with Emmanuel Macron's performance has dropped by another one percentage point. The previous figure of 16% was already considered the lowest during his presidency.
Economic issues remain the main sources of anxiety for the French. Against the backdrop of high school student protests and record fuel prices, 54% of survey participants named purchasing power the most important problem. Additionally, the future of the social system worries 44% of respondents, while the state of the national debt concerns 33%.
Changes in assessments of government leadership and opponents
The rating of French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu demonstrated positive dynamics: it increased by two percentage points in a month, reaching 22%. This marked a recovery after a previous drop of seven points.
Among potential successors to Macron, representatives of the ultra-right party "National Rally" are leading. Jordan Bardella has the support of 33% of voters, while Marine Le Pen has 32%.
Meanwhile, over the past month, the figures for both politicians have decreased: Bardella's by three percentage points, and Le Pen's by four. This occurred against the backdrop of a scandal involving antisemitic posts attributed to Bardella.
