Repeated violation of entry ban

A 58-year-old Polish citizen became the subject of a criminal case after entering German territory for the third time despite a valid entry ban. The man was first deported in 2020, which deprived him of the right to free movement into the country. However, last Sunday he appeared again in the city of Görlitz, arriving there by train. Police detained him immediately.

Return after a day and incident at the station

After the relevant documents were processed, the man was sent back to Poland. Nevertheless, the next day he returned to Germany. At the station, he was suspected of stealing goods from a shop, prompting police to be called again. At the time of his detention, the man was in a state of severe alcohol intoxication: a blood test showed a level of 2.29 per mille.

The Polish man paid for the goods, but police again opened a case for illegal entry and deported him. The man stated that he would return soon, and he effectively kept his promise: just an hour later, he was found again at the station in Görlitz.

Court decision

Such persistent disregard for the ban became grounds for an expedited court hearing. The Görlitz district court sentenced the 58-year-old citizen to six months of imprisonment. The court did not offer the possibility of early conditional release. On the day the verdict was handed down, the man was taken to prison.
